BA has predicted the following top ten long haul destinations as hotspots for travellers in 2009.
South Africa tops the poll due to the British Lions Rugby Tour.

- Cape Town
- Johannesburg (British Lions tour)
- Dubai
- San Francisco
- New York
- Hong Kong
- St Kitts (BA are the only airline to fly direct from the UK)
- St Lucia
- Sydney
- Shanghai
BA’s head of Sales for the UK and Ireland said, “It’s not all doom and gloom in the travel industry, but due to the week Rand against the Pound, it is very good value for Money. New York and Dubai will remain firm favourites for leisure and business travellers alike”.
